More on Social Networking: Biznik
Do you sometimes feel isolated in your business? Do you ever need a referral for a business service such as bookkeeping or copy writing? Do you need to learn a new skill for little or no fee? Do you want to improve your search engine optimization? Do you need fresh ways to find new business? If you answered YES to even one of these questions you may find Biznik a great tool. And the best thing is you can use it for FREE! I joined this online social-networking group a week ago. I’m already convinced that it offers unique ways to network without the expense and the superficial card-swapping that is often prevalent in other networking venues. You can check it out for yourself at www.biznik.com. I’m so excited about the potential for your business that I’m offering to help you set up your profile and show you around the site. The first five who contact me will also receive a one month sponsorship at the PRO level (this $10/month option affords additional benefits over the free account). So check it out and let me know if you want some help.
Latest Projects
One of my biggest projects this quarter has been helping Tessera prepare for their first major conference and fundraising luncheon. It’s called Restoring Hope 2009 and will be held October 15. For this project I designed print materials including a brochure and invite with RSVP and envelope and then coordinated new website pages for each event as well as an html email campaign.
The other cool project I worked on recently is a contest for Coconut Bliss called Night of Bliss. If you’ve never tried this incredible organic, non-dairy frozen dessert sweetened with agave, you’re in for a treat. It’s readily available at PCC, Whole Foods and many stores throughout the country. To see where you can buy it visit the store locator. To check out and enter the contest visit www.aNightofBliss.com.
Useful Resources & Fun Videos
- I mentioned Mozy a couple of years ago, but I continue to find it a crucial tool for off-site file backup. I love that I can choose which files to back up and how often. You can get 2 gigs of storage for free at www.mozy.com.
- I just learned about Microsoft’s new online storage system called Mesh at www.mesh.com. It appears you get 25 gigs of free storage. It’s not configured for automating backups. It’s designed for file sharing amongst your electronic devices that are connected to the internet.
- I’m sure you’re aware that having an e-zine (emailed newsletter) and/or blog is considered essential to your business. I can help you with setting those up. But if you don’t like to write, or don’t have time, how do you manage? I just discovered an online source for free articles at www.ezinearticles.com. And the good news is, if you do like to write, you can place your articles here with your credit and other people will use them and credit you. This is great for your search engine optimization and will help drive traffic to your website.
- Being on Facebook is exposing me to a lot more “stuff”. A lot of it isn’t worth my time or yours. I found this one particularly fascinating, especially if you like classical music but perhaps don’t have much training in how to appreciate it. You can watch one song on YouTube then explore the Music Machine website if you’re interested in understanding what’s going on and/or listening to more music this way.
NEW 2009 Vacation dates
To help you plan ahead here are my vacation dates for the rest of this year. I will have limited email access during these times.
- Mom just had open heart surgery so I’ll be going to Florida to visit her the last week in October.
- The office is closed for the holidays: Thanksgiving weekend and the last two weeks of the year.
